it feels TERRIBLE! it feels as if you could have just been stabbed. IT takes your breath away for a couple seconds and your insides feel all funki. Afterwards your sure to have a stomachache.

Yes.. like a horse kicked you in the intestines and you can't breathe.. you have to tell yourself to breath.. breath in, breath out.. embarrassing in front of a lot of people when you are in that much pain, makes you lean over and your knees bend.. aches way after the fact... but you have to keep strong and not let it show too much..
Did Shotokan Karate.. SKIA, and was at a AKF State Title Competition..

Have you ever fallen down and gotten your wind knocked out? It's kind of like that. Not pleasant, not the worst thing that can happen. However, depending on how hard you're hit of course, this experience varies, and can sometimes result in medical consequences.

the issue is the rapid loss of breath from the diaphram rapidly pushing upwards and forcing the air from your lungs.

boxers, martial artists, etc. train to "take" punches like this through "non-thought" auto-reactionary tension in the abdominal region.

i was in the marines in the sixties. basic training was just a word for hell in the physical sense. a person was beaten to pulp on a daily basis.

Yes, and I'd rather go to the dentist. Got in a fight with a sailor and he got the first blow. I ended up on top of him with my hands around his throat before the fight was broken up. (ARM)
