I've decided to have pandas as my topic for creative writing. I haven't researched about them yet. But the thing that attracted me most was their being "cute" and all. So... what do you think is the "CUTEST" term to describe a panda? =)

I have been on this site for a few days now and am amazed at how many posted questions are grammatically incorrect and make no sense! You would think to get the best possible answer, you would take the time to at least read it back or do a spell check before posting. Does this bother anyone else, or is it just me??

Since I was in the first grade, my teachers have been telling me never to start sentences with "And" & "But."

For the most part, I have been following that rule ever since. But--err I mean "However," I cannot help but feel like that rule has hindered me from expressing myself more eloquently and poetically in my papers and essays.

Many times I have looked at a sentence I wrote on a paper and went, "Man the sounds really good to me, but I know my professor's going to mark me for starting it with 'And', so I better use more lame words like 'furthermore,' or 'in addition,'"

Who exactly thought of forbidding students from starting their sentences with "And" and "But," and why?

And (AND) are we gradually moving away from that archaic rule of writing?

I am applying to the school of social sciences because the subjects under this field of study interest me the most. While I was taking an Economics course at Trinity, I realized that I was not only acquiring analytical skills, but I was also making better senses of the world around me. It was fun to ask and learn the whys. Along with an Economics major, I will also pursue the Premed program at Rice. I think this combination will not only give me an advantage when I’m applying to medical schools after graduation, but also help me when I am opening my own practice in the future.

I want to transfer to Rice because I think Rice can help better in reaching my potential than Trinity. Rice has a better educational environment and more rigorous academic discipline, for Rice is filled with vibrant students who are serious about education. Thus, I want to be part of that student body. My other reason for wanting to transfer to Rice is that Rice is close to home, since being away from my family has always been really difficult for me.

thanks!
