'Have' has many meanings - my dictionary gives 22 of which 'have' in connection with eating is 15th!. Just think of these expressions - 'I have two cars' 'My wife is having our first child' and the all time favourite with Americans 'Have a nice day'!

'have' is an auxiliary verb and it denotes any action which happened in the near past.the action takes place in the present but it got over sometime ago. Except for the third person singular like He, She, It alone take 'has' and the others like I, We, You, They, take "have" as their verb. 'Have' takes a past participle verb after it.
Example:
I have eaten
you have studied
they have gone

He has done
She has finished
it has flown etc
