Some questions are really difficult to understand or are ambiguous and attract a lot of adverse comment from those attempting to answer the questions.

Are there very few people on yahoo who can complete a sentence? It irritates me to no end to see someone write an entire paragraph with no punctuation and about 50% of the words spelled correctly. There is no reason why people should not be educated in today's society.

Do not = don't
They are = They're
Has not = hasn't, etc, etc,etc
Why does "will not" become "won't" - where does the O come from?

From TIMES magazine: "Strangers think I'll look down on them - so THEY GET THE BOOT IN first."

Context: The author tries to lose her posh British accent.

I'm taking the expression to mean something like "They give me the boot (ie. don't talk to me)", but am unfamiliar with the author's use of the idiom. Your thoughts?
