Are there very few people on yahoo who can complete a sentence? It irritates me to no end to see someone write an entire paragraph with no punctuation and about 50% of the words spelled correctly. There is no reason why people should not be educated in today's society.

Haha I actually meant correctly. Read the sentence again. I said 50%, therefore it could go either way. I am an editor. You can make sad attempts to correct me all day.

I agree.

Most people aren't going to take your answer seriously if you don't bother with correct spelling and grammar. Even if your answer is correct, it lessens your credibility somewhat.

I find it worrisome to answer questions that I can barely decipher as well; if I'm going to take the time to form a well thought out answer, are they even going to understand it, or is it going to go over their heads?

On a side note, I love the "know one cares" answer. It just proves your point.

Yes for course now things are so messed up when it comes to writing a sentence. I believe it has something to do with the IM and texting that people do so much. Its faster and if you ask me its just plan lazy. I hated going to school but the one class I seem to enjoy was English. I might not be able to spell good (thank god for spell check) but I can write the heck out of a essay!! Good question!!

As an English teacher, I have to agree with you. However, this is not the place for checking grammar and spelling errors. Believe me, when I see some of the things people put out there, it bothers me. But I work in an elementary school, so I'm used to seeing this kind of writing every day. Just make sure that YOU don't make errors since you've taken the time to blast others who do. Enjoy the Yahoo! experience and have a great weekend!

This is not an English or Grammar class, this is just a venue for yahoo subscribers to get information and help from the poeple in this community. If grammatical and spelling rules bother you a lot, then get off yahoo answers and join an English class or enroll in English 101.

If you're an editor, how come you can't even spell the word "scary" correctly. Go back to your "Can anyone tell me...?" question. Stop complaining, you don't know how to spell as well!

Thank you! It is NOT just you. It's hard to take a lot of the questions seriously when they're hard to understand. I don't claim to be perfect - I understand that a lot of people did not have the opportunity for a good education. It does annoy me when people who know better are simply lazy, though.

it was the bloody instant messaging fad of the last ten years that contributed to the decline of the written word and proper puncuation. kids got to thinking that it was cool to use shorthand and abriviations instead of full words in online conversations. and now its getting to the point that i am hearing these short hand answers in real life conversations. horrable stuff.

Ahh it's so true. People today should know how to speak well. It's very annoying and unnessesary.
