The Night-time World
By: Eric Wyatt

The stars stare at me,
While I dance in the midnight fog.
The world is quiet now.
Everyone is in a hypnotic slumber.

The deserted streets are now just lifeless veins,
No longer pumping blood.
The shadows seem to move,
As if someone is watching me.

The lampposts illuminate what remains of the city.
I breathe in the nocturnal air,
And feel the essence of the night in my lungs.
My body surrenders to this dreamlike treasure.

The city won’t be like this forever.
The sleeping giant wakes up,
As life flows through again.
The streets begin to pump blood.

The bustling, thriving city is back to its routine.
I feel as if I’m in the way.
I now must wait before I can explore,
This moonlit world once more.

I hate gh. What is gh? I have a five year old who is doing very well with her reading, but how do you explain this gh thing? It adds nothing.

Ghost - should resemble its cousins 'coast' and 'toast' and be Goast.

Through and Though gain nothing from their silent suffixes and should be thru and tho.

Neighbor - bugs me because the gh hangs out in the middle, not doing anything but cause trouble by making the 'E' and the 'I' switch spots.

It's a useless thing.

Why is it that "House" is spelled H-O-U-S-E and more than one "house" is spelled H-O-U-S-E-S, but "mouse" is spelled M-O-U-S-E but more than one "mouse" is spelled M-I-C-E, not M-O-U-S-E-S. All we do is change the first letter? Any sggestions?

I happened to stumble on a question where someone asked what Git'r Done means from Larry the Cable Guy.

I couldn't believe she didn't know & the answers she got & it was closed to new answers.

I was shocked that people think it means something other than "Get HER done"...

Now people... HOW might a man Get HER done???

Hmmmm I mean, he's a man's man and he has a job alright &it's NOT tightening the screws to his tractor. Remember you are watching a COMEDY show, not This Old House.

Getting a woman DONE means f@@king her until she's "done" (satisfied and happy)....
like it's a man's job & well, he's happy to oblige!!! :-)

That is why I laugh every time he says it,
maybe cuz I wish my dh would "get me done!"

(Please, no cute remarks or offers!!!!!)

Now I have to email him to find out who's right!!! Larry??

Am I right or are those boring people who think he means to get some boring, stupid done? Why would THAT be funny??

Use your imagination folks

My Mom and Grandmother (and several other people) used the term, " I swany" or "eye swuny" as an exclamation. Example: "Well I swuny, I think he gonna be late." Does any one know where this came from or what it means?

I am a US citizen and previously lived in Hawaii for 25 years (expensive, but nice) and have been living out of the country for about seven years. I'd like to come back to the States for my daughters education but am unfamiliar with the Continental States. My prime concern is cost of living in terms of accomidation, food, etc.

My question isn't worded very well. I guess I'm looking for answers that give the bennifits of where ever you live or where you would like to be living.
