John lives on the 20th floor of an appartment block. He works long hours in a bakery across the road and six doors down to the left. Every morning on his way to work he would catch the elevator all the way from the 20th floor down to the entrance/exit on the ground floor. However, when he returns he would get off on the 8th floor and walk up to the 20th via the stairs.

Why doesn't he catch the elevator all the way up to his home on the 20th floor?
