Rafiq, a Tunisian cafe owner living in the 3rd century B.C., owns a growing restaurant on Cape Bon in the Mediterranean Sea. After consulting with bricklayers from nearby Carthage, Rafiq has decided to expand his establishment's patio. He will lay bricks in the patio following the pattern shown in the illustration. Rafiq reasoned that each brick would have a length, (x) and a width, (y). In deriving an expression for the total perimeter of the patio, he came up with the following:

4(x + y) + 12(x + y) + 2(3x + 5y) + 2(5x + 7y)

Which of the following is an equivalent expression to the total perimeter of the patio?

A.4x + y + 12x + y + 6x + 5y + 10x + 7y

B.4(xy) + 12(xy) + 2(8xy) + 2(12xy)

C.4x + y + 12x + 12y + 6x + 10y + 10x + 14y

D.4x + 6y + 12x + 12y + 6x + 10y + 10x + 14y

The specific topic I need are articles that focus on the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004 - I've tried a couple of websites but they all require a minimum £10 payment, even if I'm only looking for one particular article.

Any specific/useful, direct links would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance '_'

http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k94/ssneha/area.jpg

Area of an object = length (say a) * breadth (say b)
Therefore, area of a square = a^2 (for a square, length = breadth)
Area of a rectangle = a*b
However, area of a cylinder = 2*Pi*r^2 + Pi*d*h
Since, we're talking about area here, we shouldn't take height into consideration because if we do, then it becomes volume, r8?

agghh....I'm totally confused.....can you plz tell me where I'm goin wrong? What are the main factors you need to consider when finding the area and volume of a figure (square, rectangle, prism...)

Why do we add up the circles when we don't add up the sides in a square or rectangle, though they're equal?

Today’s generation of society now experiences the start of the age of technology. Ladies and gentlemen, let me present and propose to you a unique design of a portable media player that I do think is a prospective hit among the teens, whose trends are of Internet and electronics. A superb exterior design in addition to technical specifications and features will be significant for an amateur company in confronting the digital industry giants Sony, Microsoft, Apple, and other major competitors. The proposal not only provides competence in market dominance but also responds to the philosophy of consumer satisfaction and entertainment, quality, and innovation.

and if you can improve it, much better. thanks

can anyone solve this??

The relation known as the barometric formula is useful for determining the approximate change in pressure due to altitude. The formula, derived from the ideal gas law is: P= P0e^(-gMh/RT), where P is the pressure at height h, P0 is the pressure at sea level, g is the acceleration due to gravity (9.8 m/s) M is the average molar mass of air (29.0g/mol) and R is the gas constant. If 4.0 g of air are put into a balloon at sea level, then that balloon is taken to an altitude of 3.00 x 10^3 m, what is the change in volume? Assume a constant temperature of 20C

toward the end of the paragraph there is a word that i can't think of. I need help with it. It has a ------- where the word is supposed to be. I am writing about my favorite vacation.

The smell of the ocean is something that stays with you forever. I would find myself taking deep cleansing breaths without even realizing it. Breathing in huge gulps of that fresh salty air then ever so slowly releasing it was an automatic reaction to the setting of the beach. I now know what is ment by the term, cleansing breath. It’s like a flushing of your inner tension. I fill my lungs to the bursting point, gathering all the ------------ in my body and slowly let it go. I just can’t think of a more calming thing.
