I work in an upscale restaurant, altho most people tip 15 to 20 % there are many (especially certain ethnic groups) will only tip about 1.00 per head, I don't think most people know waitresses only make 2.13 per hour and when we spend an hour serving a table of 4, that means we only make 6.13 for that hour..can't live on that, In a diner where you are in and out in 15 min or less, 1.oo per head is ok, but in fine dining, where the server is making many many trips to the table with refils, delivering drinks, cleaning up, pre bussing table and wiping and sweeping their messy kids (and sometimes adults) tables, and floors, and then only get 1.00 tip, I think it is rudeness and ignorance on their part, also, do ya think parents allow their kids to crumble crackers and pour drinks on the floor at home? hope not..

Its been said that you can tell certain things about people by what food they like. Ok, I have this weakness for Mexican but I also absolutly LOVE Italian Pasta dishes. Granted its not as good as making love but pretty close.

If you are seated by young children at a restaurant is it rude to ask for a different table. If my hubby and I go out to dinner to have a "grown up night out" I do not want to sit next to screaming or poorly behaved kids. I realize children have the right to eat out too, I am a mom that enjoys time out with the family. However when I'm out without kids, I prefer to be without kids.

My husband and I are celebrating our one year anniversary this month and I am stuck on a gift. I was thinking about signing him up for beer of the month club (romantic I know). He loves different types of beer so I thought this would be fun. Is anyone out there a member or have ideas on a good company to go with? If not, does anyone have any other good ideas for our one year? (It is not as much fun to give and receive gifts now that we have a joint checking account!)
Thanks-
Kim

someone wrote in another thread that he is a chef and therefore he pays attention to the food and expect the food to be done "as requested" or the tip is dispensed with.
what kind of a moron chef are you, and in what kind of moron restaurant. the wine steward? for real? you mean sommelier?
or do you mean the SERVER who usually opens the bottle and as per protocol in ANY good restaurant will offer you a taste. you have nothing to do with that, it is STANDARD unless you are at the frickin golden corral.
some wines will turn, that is the nature of wines, a smell will tell you that more often than not, and if it has turned that has nothing to do with the server either. that is a common occurence in the world of wines.
often you rely on the server or sommelier or wine "steward" for advice, they have to come in early for tasting and lectures on this product, usually for 2.00 and come change an hour, they pay taxes on YOUR wine, they get yelled at by chefs and nasty customers all day with p

I remember them as a little kid. You would get little balloons with feet on them and cartoons and Laurel and Hardy films being shown. Can't remember if the pizza was any good.

Everytime I go to a business luncheon or fine dinning. The only thing for desert is cheesecake. I HATE CHEESECAKE. actually its the cream cheese I hate which includes crab raggoon and others.

Is it that the majority of people in the world like like cheesecake or is it just cheap to make?
