that's how it worked at my place. If management was cool they would use a food comp or something to defray your cost. I paid 120$ check on my first shift. but it pissed me off so bad, I turned into a smooth talking top selling con artist of a server and made so much money it was not fair to others. So, it's up to you what to do next.

that's the reason you should continually tell your server that you're paying with a present certificate, coupon, birthday deal ect, earlier receiving the invoice! so as that the shopper and waiter are conscious, everyones on the same web page, and persons can order therefore. I hate when we get a table that doesnt practice for the Birthday lower price, yet is searching ahead to it, because they order overestimated products in problem-free words to the locate out that they might want to pay for the finished aspect, and then who receives screwed? Your server. and that i imagine thats very unfair. We cant change what our bosses have advised us to do, and if we attempt to bend the guidelines, that one tip isnt going to assist us when we are jobless. No, you should no longer have had to pay for the meal. somewhat because it became the owner who determined that those products wouldnt be commemorated. Our boss is an similar way. once a shopper needs to *****, hes out of there, and we are left to take care of it. yet when theres a praise being left, you comprehend hes there to take exhilaration in it.

In most restaurants and bars, YES! Next time collect as you serve the drinks rather than running a tab. People unfortunately learn the hard way.

Legal or not, it is done in a lot of places. It keeps the dishonest servers from pocketing the cash and just saying they walked out. Sorry.
