Internet - October 2006

I'm a poker fanatic and wan't to make a free website that is all dedicated to poker. I've asked around but nobody seems to know the awnser. Please explain how to go about making a free website. ty so much :)

Hello all. I live in a studio style apartment outside of my mother-in-law's house with my girlfriend. The apartment is in the back of a tool shop. When I am in their house my internet speed is up to 56 Mbps, however, when I am outside in our apartment, the speed drops dramatically to 2 sometimes 5 Mbps. We have wireless DSL and we do not have a wireless router hooked up, it is a wireless modem. However, I do have a brand new wireless ROUTER that I can hook up if that will somehow make the signal better. I don't really have the money to spend on any type of repeaters, signal boosters, etc. and the homemade antennas seem too complicated for me. Could someone break down how I could increase my speed up even just a little bit to be able to surf faster. Other details: Shop is apprx. 30 yards from house, tin roof. Here is a link to the "floorplan" of how the house and shop is layed out and where I am / the modem is ... etc.

The icon at the bottom of the page and has an "e" in the middle of the page? I don't know how I lost it...it tells you when a net page is done loading.

I entered address's for all the sites I would like to have access easily to and have not used this option for awhile, so now I forgot how to get back there. This is not my address, but listed sites I entered such as business, shopping and email address I didn't want to forget.

... when i search "myspace layouts", the websites that come up suck ***! they are either too slow, layouts dont work, layouts are lame, or they have like 3 layouts for the whole page.

I have two toolbars. One of them is the yahoo toolbar and I understand how to delete that search. But on my address toolbar to the right of the address is a toolbar with the search that says "Search the Web"....I tried going to tools internet options and deleted the files etc....and it didn't work. I wonder if i clarify if I'll get the needed help!

My pc crashed yesterday ;< However, I got everything reinstalled including virus protection software, etc.

FYI: (if it matters)
I have Sony Vaio pc with Windows XP and use Internet Explorer.

My dial up connection (which I don't use) is interfering with my DSL.

I have DSL connection and it shows connectivity with no problem.

However, when I am surfing the net for approx 2-5 minutes, I get the pop-up window requesting to connect via "dial-up" or do I wish to work offline. I can't recall how to correct this so the message goes away? Please help!

All I can do is close out all my windows and disable my DSL connection and re-connect so I can open my Internet Explorer for another few minutes - I just want the pop-up msg to go away.

I experienced a problem similiar to this a year ago and cannot recall how to fix it. (Just a blonde thing for me) lol
