I don't get it...how can liberals actually support all these tax increases? Does this give them some sort of pleasure when they pay taxes? Can someone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks!

At the beginning of 2007, I opened an account for trading in stocks listed on US stock exchanges. Do I need to file for a tax return in the USA, and if so, which forms or where could I get some help. Thanks!

My husband will be living with me in the US on a visa (he is a UK citizen). He will working remotely from the US as an independent contractor (self employed) for UK companies getting paid in GBP (£ pounds). He will do all work from US and never reside in the UK again. All of the GBP payments for his work will be transferred into USD almost immediately from his UK bank account. This will be our US income.

How will his taxes work?
He will obviously pay the majority of his taxes to the US, but will he have to pay any taxes to the UK?

Anyone have experience with this? or have any tips on finding an accountant who has this international knowledge?

Thanks very much

..and other public services.
I'm not trying to start an argument about whether the US or Europe, or countries in Europe are better, but it's just I asked a question previously about Americans paying huge college fees. One of the replys stated that taxes in Europe are much higher so you still pay for it, even if not directly. Fair point. Taxes in most European countries are pretty high. But, taxes in Ireland, both personal and corporation are lower than in the U.S...
I guess my question is more complex than originally stated..and I'm not even sure what it is....

For six years we have filed taxes as Married, filing separately. We are in our seventies, reside permanently 600 miles apart and have no reason to divorce. I have very few deductions while he has many, but I must itemize since he does. It would be advantageous for us to file as singles. Can we do that if I can get the agreement filed with the court? How?

it helps the poor the most, and it would attract so many jobs to america, that no one who wanted to work would have a problem finding a job...its almost like that now in america with our low unemployment rates, but that's another topic.

I run a small electrical business and do my own book keeping. I have set up some direct debits such as van insurance, advertising, etc. So as an example, i have an invoice in Feb for £400 but will be paying 10 monthly installments via direct debit. So, do i enter £400 for Feb or do i enter £40 a month. I am keeping all receipts and entering these on a monthly basis but Feb will look like a bad month even though i havent paid any money yet. And also the reason of separating the cost between the tax year. Hope someone knows and gets back to me.

I understand that recent Budget for first time imposes 12 1/2%taxes on rents of Commercial Property from coming Financial Year 2007-2008!
Is this payable by the lessee or the Lessor?
Who has to credit the tax by challans if this has not been specified in lease agreements already existing?
Since this is an indirect tax it seems it has to be paid in addition to Income tax by Lessors who enjoy lease of property and not by the landlord who may have several tenants in a building in a designated Commercial area!
The above points need to be clarified! Can anyone provide answers!
