Is it necessary to send an amended tax return to the IRS via certified/return receipt requested mail, or can I just stamp it? Thank you!

Generally, I don't think it is required to send an amended tax return via certified maill but if you are afraid that they might not received it or had problems in the past with getting your mails to the destinations, then I would suggest it. Mainly because you want to avoid any penalties and secondly, you don't want to take the risk when the fees are minimal. Choose what you think is right. If I were you, I'll go ahead and mail it via certified to be safe.

You still have time to just stamp it. No point wasting money via certified, especially return receipt.

You can just stamp it, but it's not a bac idea to certify it with return receipt requested so you have some proof of mailing and of receipt.
