It looks like the first $600,000+ is tax exempt from the federal government, so if you receive a couple of hundred thousand you wouldn't have to pay the feds. Is this right?

My daughter is 17 and learning how to maintain a checking account... the hard way. I've noticed that our bank collects transactions received by them daily. The actual occurance of the transactions can range in date from 1-5 days. Instead of posting them in order according to the date they were transacted, the bank posts them in order from largest amount to smallest. What this does for the bank is give them more opportunities to apply overdraft fees, if there are to be any. What this does to the consumer is charge them more overdraft fees than should be. The bank is rearranging the timing of withdrawals and charges to their advantage, subjecting the consumer to much higher fees than one would or should expect. Is this legal?

I'm a homeschooling mom of 7. Our budget is very tight and with the recent gas prices driving up the cost of living, we're really struggling. I'd like to get training as a medical transcriptionist so that I can work from home, around my schedule. I do have a job lined up after I get training.

In order to pay for school, we'd have to cash in my husband's retirement plan from an old job. There's not a lot in it, but just enough to pay for the school and buy me a new computer and desk to set up a home office away from the kids. Do you think this is a good decision? We really don't have the money for a loan.

The findings stated "without exception" Does this mean that you can go out and learn new words and expect your income to grow correspondingly?

I used my debit card for 4 transactions. A rep from the bank called to verify the purchases. After we got off the phone, I called the 800# to see if the purchases went through. They did. I didn’t use the account for 2 weeks before I received insufficient funds notices. I checked the notices against my bank records online & against my paper statement. It clearly shows that those four purchases cleared & the bank sent them through again after they cleared. I spoke with reps in the offices and via the 800# & I got the run around. I filed a complaint w/ the Consumer Agency. The bank sent a letter stating that they did nothing wrong. It shows that they owe me money, but I have a delinquent account w/them. I can’t open another account until I get this settled. Should I sue the bank? Is their any other way I can pursue with this matter w/o having to go to court?
