In the UK the answer is no! However, a Court of Law can confiscate [take] the proceeds of certain crimes [Felony's] including boats, cars or planes etc. It will be helpful if the 'Asker' gives his/her location... Just a thought..

A garnishment can be filed against an account by court order and the financial institution has to honor it. Usually what happens is the account is frozen for a set period of time (90 days, etc.) then at the end of that, if whatever the garnishment is for hasn't been satisfied, the money will be taken.

If the moneis are proved to be the proceeds from Crime they have the DUTY to freeze the acocunt and seaze the proceeds. (they freeze automatically but need a court order to remove funds).
If the money is provable NOT to be yours (paid in by mistake and notified as such and you have refused to pay it back) it can be removed with a Court order, although as a Civil matter the account cannot be frozen for this

Depends where you are. The Criminal Assets Bureau in Ireland has the right to confiscate the proceeds of crime.
They then redistribute these to social and anti-drugs programmes in the communities the drug-dealing filth destroyed in the first place, which is pretty good when you think about it.

They can seize any property that they prove has been a profit of a crime,,,including money in any account, that is why many large scale criminals have offshore or swiss bank accounts.

With a court order for bank garnishment, yes. Same as a collection agency.

Yes, they can freeze your bank account and take any monies that are the proceeds of a crime.

Proceeds from crimes can be removed from your account. It would need a court order and proof of guilt before it was done

No but they could get bank records with a warrent.
