I just signed up with sharebuilder and they buy in on Tuesday for you. I also have a simulated stock portfolio on investopedia to see the flucuations in share values.

So, what I want to do is see a stock at a daily low and go in a buy it immediately. Is that possible online? It seems like it should be. And yes, I'm new to this.

Is it better to get a job at AG Edwards, Edward Jones, Merril Lynch, etc. and undergo their training program or is it better to do on-the-job training with a local independent investment firm with over 15 years experience and learn from actually doing the selling/investing/portfolio mngt in real-time.
Both with offer minimal salary consideration.

I have a lot of money invested in mutual funds and am concerned with the recent drop in the stock market as well as the recent concerns with subprime lenders....do you think that investing in gold is a good hedging strategy? Do you think that the price of gold would rise if some of these lenders tank?

Am I crazy or should we be buying ford stock right now. At 7 bucks a share you could aquire a substantial position. This is a stock that was trading in upwards of 65 bucks a share in the late 90's. If their turnaround plan is successful,come 2010 you could make a killing

Hello,guys!I'm not an Eng.speaker.
Can anybody help me with the meanings of 2 phrases:AN EDGE IN THE MARKETS, 2) EXCESS RETURNS.They're from a book,a context, "There exists no information that can give a trader AN EDGE IN THE MARKETS.There is little debate that markets do not exhibit this type of behavior. Numerous studies have shown that corporate insiders -those privy to nonpublic information - have earned EXCESS RETURNS.If one could acquire similar information in the markets,profits would undoubtedly result.The bigger question is the cost of such information. Since insider trading is illigal, one would risk loss of freedom for an almost certain EDGE IN THE MARKET.

I am wondering how one solve the Present Value of a perpetuity when the monthly payment is given (say $600) and the interest rate is given % per annum compounded monthly (say 6%) when the first payment is made at at the start for the first period.

I assume the following:

PMT = $600
i = 0.06/12 = 0.005

This is urgent and the person who gives me the right answer will be thanked
