I want to buy foriegn currencies & already have an idea of which ones. I am not putting in a great deal (maybe $100 sporatically here & there, put in over time). Is it a good idea to go to a currency exchange place downtown & just buy it & let it grow, which it has & all indications show it will, even more & faster.

Most of those Forex (not bashing any trader or broker, thats just the most popular one that I see) type traders tend to have high minimums just like brokers in order to do business, plus fees. I know that exchangers have fees too, but considering that I cant get into the market any other way, what do you think?

Where can I find information about stocks and trading? I do not know much, but I would like to learn more and invest. Most information I find does not start off basic. You have to have some sort of previous knowlege about how it all works.

Merry christmas ;),
So, is it of value to invest some money in gold or silver if your broker gives you high "leverage", 200:1?

And...what do you think about this site: http://www.gcitrading.com ?

Thanks alot!

I am looking at opening a roth ira, but also investing in my future companies 401 k plan. What I was wondering is if it is wise to invest in corporate stocks. Should I invest in my companies stock? Also, if I choose to diversify my 401k portfolio, what do you believe is the best to invest in. Mutual funds and stocks? I am looking into mutual funds because they usually carry less risk. But I was wondering if I am able to change mutual funds. For instance invest in one mutual fund that may yield 20% and then switch at any time to another mutual fund. Is this possible?

I'm trying to narrow my search for one or perhaps several tax-free bond funds to add to my portfolio. I tend to like the closed end variety. I've checked out offerings from Blackrock funds, Nuveen, Putnam, Morgan Stanley, Eaton Vance, et al. Man, there sure are a perplexing variety of funds to pick from! Many of them look like clones of each other, with only slight differences in the fund's name.

What would be some filtering criteria that I should apply to selecting a tax free fund? NAV premium/discount, dividend history (increase or decrease - how to find this?), what happens to muni funds if the Fed lowers - or raises - interest rates, etc. Actually, I'm just about ready to give up and use a dart board to select a fund! Any professional help would be appreciated. (I don't need a state-specific fund either, as my state does not have a state income tax.)

I am 22 years old and looking at a roth ira. I want to invest the full amount each year. I was lookinng at the morningstar website and it stated that in 2010, I would only be able to contribute upto 2000 per year because the tax relief act expires. What do I do about this? Is this correct? If so it will really affect my retirement.... any comments wanted.

Suppose any one wants to invest in HDFC taxsaver scheme which comes under SIP and after 5 year it promises 4 fold return.Even if one does not get the return what will happen to the Prinicipal investment which is invested. WIll he get it even if he had opted for growth fund which says high growth means high risk? If one does opt for balanced fund will he keep his principal investment more secured than that of a growth fund.

Merry Christmas :),
So...I am new at the forex market(for a moment I wrote foreST:))
And obviously I have several questions:

1. What to buy now?
I see some people who look at the forex too "philosophically".
As I said I am newbie at this market, so they can be right, but...why someone would ask about the "Eliot theory" to make money in forex when you just can read news and predictions and see the chart???
Thus, my question is not whether Eliot works or not :), but is it good to buy NZD against the USD, or against the JPY? I think thats the best deals now.

2. Is it that good???
Ofcourse forex seems very attractive to people because of the very high "leverage". In fact, I understand the "leverage" to be a credit.
Ok, it's good when I win but if I lose, am i not loosing the brokers money? I guess then noone looses because when I loose, someone else succeeds...anyway you got it :)
3. Can you trust Forex.com?
That's my broker ;)

Thanks and have a grand new year!
