I have been having a hard time getting health insurance in Canada because I have been a carrier of Hep C for 21 years. Even though I have no symptoms and have liver function tests every year that are consistently normal, the companies won't touch me! I am about to have our first baby and would really like coverage for prescription drugs, dental and vision - that's all I need. If I don't put down that I have Hep C, what are the repercussions if I get caught? Will they know anyway? And if anyone knows a company that WILL cover me, with or without a waiver for Hep C related conditions, I will be forever grateful. Thanks all.

I started working at a new job a few months ago where I only work 2.5 hours/day so that I could be home more when I had my daughter. I get paid a high hourly wage, and am considered to be a sub-contractor of a program that works with infants. They do not take any money out of my checks, not for taxes, SDI, or anything. I have the tax thing figured out, but am thinking of having another baby in the next few months and am trying to figure out if there is any way for me to get disability for the 6 weeks afterwards. Since I dont pay into SDI, I'm assuming I dont get state disability like I did last time. Am I correct in this? Is there any type of insurance I can purchase that would cover this? I live in California. Thank you.

What are some options and/or resources out there? Although I have a savings account for my children, what more can I do to help them out in the long run? Nothing risky, I just want to be able to provide for them when the time comes.

I paid COBRA for three months when leaving my job to have my son. Now my previous employer is saying I only paid two months (even though they cashed my check) and my insurance isn't going to cover my hospital bills. The HR and benefits people will not return my calls and told the representative from BASIC handling my account that I didn't pay and there's nothing they can do about it. I'm sure I can get a copy of the check or something from the bank. I have a statement showing it was drafted from my account, but I can't get ahold of them to show them (even after leaving messages with the supervisor as well). Are there laws protecting me in this? What would you advise?

I have 90 day disability at work, but I would like to know my mortgage is covered should I become disabled. I am single and do not have family, so am less worried about life mortgage insurance than disability. But, I don't want to waste money either.

Recently my daughter caught my neighbor stabbing our above ground swimming pool, and our trampoline. When he seen her looking out the window, he jumped the fence, and ran through his back gate. The police state in the report that the wife, and husband had two different stories when they talked to them as to his whereabouts, and the neighbor was very nervous, and sweating... In short, the police didn't believe him. Anyway, the insurance company gave us 1800 dollars, and wanted a copy of the police report so they can take the neighbor to court. Will they really do this, and what usually happens if, and when they do?

Wal-Mart staff ordered to search store after bomb threat
http://snipurl.com/t6z0 (more detail in link)

I was then told:
Since Wal-Mart carries their own life insurance policies on their employees (payable to the company; in the US it's $50,000, I dunno what it is in Canada), this only benefits the company. If they don't find anything, there is no official investigation to cover up, and if someone dies, the company gets a pile of cash for it.

Win-win!

I require documented proof that this is true.

Thank you in advance.
