Okay, this is disturbingly bizarre. I found a gray hair on my head. The end is completely gray, but the section towards the root is black as can be! What could've caused this?

Background Info: 40/Female; 3 kids; (using my daughter's account on here in case any of you all know her) black hair cut medium length.

off than I had asked, anyway when I got home I noticed you could see a few grey strands on top so I went and bought colorsilk strawberry blonde, my hair is naturally light brown, well the color is as described only it's a little too bright, is there anything I can do to tone the color down? It's not falling out in patches just piece by piece and everytime I take a shower like 10 to 20 full strands seem to fall out. I'm very good to my hair, I take vitamins, sleep on a satin pillow case, eat healthy, don't use heat styling, and pretty much anything else that could possibly be good for my hair. I've searched almost every website imaginable and have not been able to find a clear answer. I'm young and I used to have very thick, long hair and now it is thinning especially around the nape of my hair.
