I'm still learning my digital SLR camera and am very confusde about F stop and shutter speed. But what F stop would you use at about sunset when the light can be intense in some areas.

I have a Nikon D50 and barely know how to use it. I'm not able to take photography classes right now, but maybe later when I have more time.

Clearly, I know nothing about cameras. I want to start taking pictures of my daily adventures but I don't want to just use a plain old digital camera. Any suggestions on what camera I should buy to get professional quality pictures? Thanks in advance!

If i take a picture of someone, do i have the right to use my photograph as I like, or do they have the legal right to deny me use of my own photograph?

It would only take a few minutes of your time and would be few pictures with, simple natural poses

Note: By photographer I don’t mean anyone just walking around with a point and shoot, basic camera. I mean a person who is using a fairly advanced camera setup, is clean and dressed nicely, and can tell you a reason why they are out taking pictures. (Possible reason include Shoot an event or show, taking pictures to build his/her portfolio, taking pictures of an attraction...etc)

If you said it was okay for s/he to take you picture would you sign a release for the pictures taken?

Would you want to receive a copy of your pictures via mail or e-mail?

And if you take an exposure reading off of a gray card is it still necessary to use the zone system to get proper exposure?

Where can I find good quality pictures of beautiful landscapes?

This is a snapshot that I took yesterday. I figured it would work best as a high key thing so I upped exposure 1.5 stops over 'correct' just before I took it. It's a candid shot. I just walked up and took it.

The background is a stainless steel door and the lighting on the subject is open shade (skylight). For the curious, the EXIF info is available with the image.

I added highlight and shadow diffusion in photoshop. You can also post a comment when you view the image. The best viewing is to pick slide show.

Thanks for all opinions.

I am seriously out of ideas
I cant do photoshop because not everybody has it or can work it.

If it is based on opinion and seen differently in everybodies eyes?

Or is it really the creative mind of the person behind the camera and their skill to be able to think of something and capture it perfectly?

I work for a small company and I have multiple light stands with two 500 watt lights, more for lighting an area than photo shoots. We have a white product with black background but the photos looked yellow. Taking off the protective grill was a good step, but there are also strange shadows that 1000 watts isn't strong enough to fully remove.

Long question short, how do I whiten the picture or at least cheaply cover the lights with keeping in mind the lights are hot!!!
