I love singing, but I'm not sure if I can...I've been singing pop since I was 11 years old...every day...and I'm 13 now. I've done choir throughout my life, but my voice is a little high...does this mean I am not good? I recorded myself singing and the singer I most sound like is Vanessa Ann Hudgens, maybe a bit Lily Allen-Gwen Stefani-ish. Is this a good thing? When my sister heard me sing, she said I was an alto, which I take his a higher voice. My dad also said I was good...and if it helps any, I play guitar and write songs. My Dad's side of the family is very musical. If I AM no good, how can I get better...I'm very confused! Could I continue singing ska pop or do I have to be an opera singer?

Is it legal just to make an arrangement for something or do you have to pay the publishing company something or get written permission? The arrangement won't be published but it would be performed in an audition.

Preferably something easy to learn.

I'm considering auditioning for an opera chorus in a week or two. I have plenty of experience as a choral alto (mainly church choirs). It's the New York City Opera, looking for adult African-American singers for a new opera called Margaret Garner, set in slavery times. They want auditioners to sing an Italian aria and an English-language aria or folk tune.

I could do the Shepherd Boy's Song from Act III of Tosca, but I want some more ideas. Thanks!

Is 19 at the age of old dogs can't learn new tricks stage?
I heard some say that our brain stop developing at a certain age(12?) So it would be alot harder now if i didn't start learning at a really young age.

I always wanted to play piano really. . . but I guess I was a bit to lazy and wasn't really motivated enough. Now I sort of regret it back then.

I just saw it this weekend & the only thing that I have listened to has been the soundtrack. I'm in the middle of the book (i don't like it as much though) but I was so amazed by the broadway musical! I'm so obsessed! Definitely worth going to see again & again, don't you think?

Hi, I'm a 16 y/o soprano, have been taking singing lessons for about a year now. I still don't have much vibrato and not much of volume either. Everyone tells me "open your mouth" but when I do, I lose the timbre/tone, whatever it's called, y'know the ringing sound? What should I do, I'll sing a duet in July with a tenor???

Does anyone know about the recent French musical of Don Juan? What the story line was? Who were the actors? Perhaps lyric translations? Anything would be of great help! 2003-2004 production, CD is available on Amazon.

My friends and I are singing at our high schools graduation and we are in desperate need of a powerful song. Our trio is comprised of a soprano, alto and tenor. Last year at graduation, our friends performed "A New World" from Songs for a New World. The song was amazing and we need another powerful song to sing this year at graduation. If anyone has any ideas that would be fantastic! If you know of a song, preferably a musical theater song, the voicing doesn't matter, my friends and I are quite able to arrange it into a trio and I would gladly appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

There is a sleight where a random card is placed into the deck but it protrudes sideways from the corner. The deck is shaken and the card becomes the spectators selected card.

Does anyone know what this is called?

okay so yesterday i had went to solo ensamble (for those of you who don't know what it is it's a thing where you sing in front of a judge in a little room)
she gave me a 2 out of a possibe 5, 1 being the best.

i was really mad because i've been working on my song for almost two months and it was almost perfect.
i had great posture and diction and the only thing that i was bad at was my breath support.
even my voice coach/accompanist and my choir teacher said i deserved a 1.
