George Washinton was chosen to lead the Continental Army, and Thomas Jefferson was assigned the duty of writing the Declaration of Independence. Both men were from Virginia. How could you describe Jefferson's and Washington's assignments as POLITICAL decisions, instead of based only on their abilities?

can someone please help me with this? i would greatly appreciate it! im just so confused with amer. hist.! thanks so much!

The question:
What fallacies, if any, are present in the following passage? Can you please give reasons for your answer, that is, if you say that a fallacy has been committed, then show where the fallacy occurred, and explain why you think it is a fallacy?
The passage:
Canadian military men die in foreign fields because Canada declared war on other countries, not vice versa. There mere fact that we fought does not necessarily make our cause or causes virtuous.
Few Canadians really paused long enough to really investigate the reasons for our foreign adventures.
I had a long talk with a veteran of World War II. He was a hand-to-hand-combat instructor and a guard at Allied headquarters in Italy. I questioned him on the reason for Canada’s involvement. He replied unhesitatingly that we fought because Britain told us to. That was the only reason.
It is quite clear that the only reason for world wars is that countries that have no business in the conflict get involved.

I want to know information about Ho chi minh and how he affected the world. I don't really understand what he did. Did he create a communist country that changed the world or did he just fight for independence for Vietnam so they don't have to be french? Or is it both things he did? I only know that he is a communist leader but i don't know what he is trying to do?

Why are we living in the year 2000 and not the year 2 billion or something? What did the year one mark? And why do the years go by BC and AD? When did the years start going by before christ and in the years of? And are we still living in AD? Or did they start over after Jesus supposedly died?

I'm doing a project on the Res Gestae, and one of the questions asks if there are any contemporary examples of similar documents. By contemporary, I mean similar documents that were created at about the same time, not "contemporary" in the sense that it has modern counterparts.

I...am not coming up with anything, and Google has failed me. I asked this question in a less specific form and someone replied that it reads like a resume -- and it does, but I don't need modern comparisons, I need historical ones that are more or less contemporaneous with the Res Gestae. Any ideas?

An Afghani girl in my class said that the Taliban was spearheaded by Pakistanis who went into Afghanistan to fight against the Russians. Were the people who began the Taliban movement ethnically Pakistani to begin with or not? Is it more complicated than that? I'm thinking it was a mix of Afghanis and Pakistanis since the border is really close and people were always crossing it. There's a mix heritage on the border and many Pashtuns live on the western side of Pakistan so how can we really say it was purely Pakistani or purely Afghani. Also, many people were ethnically from Afghanistan but migrated to Pakistan and lived there for awhile so eventually they were considered Pakistani. I'm really confused, and I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me!! Thanks a lot! (Please real answers only no jokes)
