While studying the "Age of Exploration," I learned about the natives' experiences with the Spaniards, the English, and the French.

I was told that the "Spanish Experience" was horrible as they tortured and killed thousands of natives in the name of expansion and of God. The "French Experience" was different as the French were mainly concerned with trade and didn't bother the natives that much.

However, I seem to have forgotten how the "English Experience" was. How did the English treat the natives when they came to the New World? From my understanding, there was some mistreatment as some of the English believed the natives to be devils (red skin, strange clothing, strange religion, etc) but I'm not sure if it escalated beyond that.

Thanks for the help.

I am a devout Christian and I have been studying History and the history of Christianity in general. I used to buy into the junk about the Romans being corupt and immoral that caused their fall. Sure by today's standards of morality the Romans were some wicked people but did that really cause their down fall? To me there seems to be a connection with Romes acceptance of Christianity in the 4th Century and the fall of Rome by the hands of the Barbarians not long afterwards. By the way Paganism was big buisness too. What do you think?

“On nation under God…” is a fragment out of the Pledge of Allegiance that clearly states that America is a country that founded and based upon Christian beliefs.

this is a fragment from a paper I am writing for school. what i really want is to insert a quote from a historical legal document (preferable the Declaration of Independance) that states that America was founded upon Christian beliefs.

I don't know...I was just observing communistic countries (present day and history) that are ran by dictatorship and noticed that communism and dictatorship is easier to obtain when minorities are rare. Are the people easier to control in countries like that?

1. During World War II, the Soviet Union was an ally of the United States.

2. The United States never joined the United Nations.

3. Japan surrendered after atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagaski.

4. The New Deal did not end the Great Depression.

5. The United Nations' decision to intervene in Korea was vetoed by the Soviet Union.

i'm gonna get to work on the rest of these, and hopefully our answers will be the same.

Paragraph 1 (must include, but is not limited to):

Who was the man who was the original Uncle Sam?

During what war did Uncle Sam originate?

How did the initials U.S. come to be known as "Uncle Sam"?

Paragraph 2 (must include, but is not limited to):

How has Uncle Sam changed over the years and what is his relation to Brother Johnathan?

What does Uncle Sam look like today and who was this look modeled after? (physical appearance)

Who is the famous cartoonist who often used Uncle Sam in his works to symbolize the United States?

If you want to believe that this was just an act of hate carried out by Islamic extremest who are jealous of beautiful wealthy Americans, your not looking at the big picture. Think about it, What were the results of that day? Did a nation go to war? This was a well thought out, carefully executed plan. somebody spent a lot of time, effort & money to make sure that it happened. Do you really think they did this just to kill a few thousand inocents? I don't think so. The responsible party new that this would result in the U.S. going to war. This was the desired effect. We were provoked and took the bait without any hesitation. Think about it. We've given the terrorists what they wanted. They wanted war and we gave them one without an end in sight. Who wanted a war? Terrorists right? One more time. Who asked for a war? Islamic terrorists. Is it wise to give terrorists what they want? Bush seems to think so. Let's see now, terrorists wanted war. Bush wanted war. They both want the same.
