The British King was putting high taxes on everything they imported. he did this to pay for the French and Indian war. The colonists got mad because they did not have any representatives in the parliment to stop this unfair tatxation.

well the British (King George) was taxing the colonies unfairly and without reprsentation, in short we(Americans) had no civil rights under the British rule.We were fighting for our independance from the Crown! the Patriots were becoming poorer with every taxation without representation, whereas the Loyalists;also Americans were profiting from it. So this war did put a strain upon families and friends as well.

The "British" were taxing the Colonialists as much as 60% this besides the "board and bed" law for the British soldiers, were taxing the American colonialists right out of their homes.
The family leaders couldn't feed their own families, then they had to feed up to six, yes six, soldiers of the crown under penelty of prison. This and, when they left, they took what they needed in livestock for food.

The British had little to no feelings for the American colonials, they "used" them for a perpous.

One of the biggest outrages of the war was the prisoners of the British, they were locked up in a prison ship in Boston harbor, hundreds of them. They were considered "traitors" and, were left without food or water in the winter, until their cries and pleas stopped, then the ship was towed to sea and sank, so was the feeling for the Colonialists of the Crown.
