I saw a program once many years ago (think it was channel 4)about how Africa was once over a 1000 kingdoms untill the colonisers decided to redefine the borders. Not that i can remember much of it. But the subject has been bugging me for a while now.

Was there some sort of formal agreement when they re-divided the african lands and did it have a name? When did it all happen and who got what in the first instance?

Excuse my ignorance, i can google this but i got no clue where to start. This is meant to be an objective question so if you do have to make a stupid comment it will only be a reflection of your ignorance. As for mine, it's why i'm asking the question, i'd like to know what happened in Africa.

I've been hearing a lot of talk about how George Orwell was only off by 20 years or so about his predictons in the novel 1984. Part of this is due to Bush's wiretapping being compared with the all seeing eyes of Big Brother and the Thought Police.

I love the novel 1984 and I was thinking this morning about chatroom jargon and such when I thought "It's simplified, but so simplified meaning can be lost." and of course that lead me to Orwell.

Do you think chatspeak is comparable to Newspeak? In what ways? I'd love to hear your opinions. I'd also like to hear what you think about "Orwell being off by 20 years." Thank you.

Friendly, a chat room you look forward to coming back to. I found one the other night but neglected to bookmark it. I don't enjoy a sight that is full of smut, sex or just inappropriate language, I am not a prude but enough is en ought. I like to hear about authors that are good and dissuasions of the books.

The art work is very original. Its not just painting but its sorta like mirror art. In which little cut pieces of mirror is pasted onto the main image (peacock) instead of painting the picture. Therefore only the background is painted but the actual image is mirror.

Tip: Something what every American who has European ancestors must know, otherwise they would be Muslims not Christians, and would speak Turkish instead of English today.

I like to write poetry in my spare time. . .I don't think I'm good at all, but some of my friends totally disagree with me. . .Here's a poem I wrote recently (and don't tell me I'm EMO, they're not all like it):

Why do we all,
Ignore what is right?
Why do so many,
Insist that we fight?
How can we live,
When nothing seems bright?
Why can't we fix this,
Try as we might?

How come some people,
Burn kittens on grills?
Why does raping small children,
Give some people thrills?
Why do people premote,
This war that kills?
Why does this not make,
Most people get chills?

Why do people care less,
About others than money,
How's it gotten so smoggy,
We can't tell when it's sunny?
Why do some people find,
Others' pain funny?
Whatever happened to,
"You catch more flies with honey?"

How sad must you be,
To cut your own wrist?
What makes people so angry,
To resort to their fist?
Why do little things,
Make some people so pissed?
How can we not think,
There's something we've missed?

In a christain country is ones loyalty first to the laws of God and then second to the laws of the coutry and patrotism. If the laws of a country go against the laws of God is a christains first loyatly to God and not patrotism. If patrotism makes a christain go aganist the laws of God can he then defie and fight against his country
