I think he was genuinely concerned with the plight of his fellow men, and given the political situation in South America, communism probably seemed like a pretty good alternative to the kind of repressive military and military-backed dictatorships that were and are the norm for that part of the world.
The problem is that communism assumes a very high degree of activism and awareness on the part of the individual citizen, otherwise it devolves into just another dictatorship (can you say "Stalin"? No? How about "Castro"? Good try!).
Ultimately Che was misguided. But he meant well.
Now he's dead, along with most of his generation, good and bad.

Just like Castro, in search of power and money at any cost. He was Fidel's right hand man. If you think Castro is wonderful for
Cuba, then Che is a fine choice for a hero.

People love rebels, and the left loves communists, and hollywood loves communist rebels. Thus a legend is born. Who can say what was in the mans heart? How does one come to believe in the principles of communism? In the end we can only judge him by his actions. He was a violent revolutionary and therefore participated in the murder of thousands who didn't buy into his dream of a communist utopia. The world is a better place without him.

Just another dirty Communist.....while he claimed to be for the working man, he also flirted with violent revolution.
