I was talking to my 38 year-old friend--telling about someone on YA asking who the first president was. I thought a person knew that by third grade. Well, she didn't.
I feel a person should at least know the first and sixteenth presidents were. One doesn't have to know the number--just who was in office was the year he or she was born and who is presently in office.
A person doesn't have to know that the Washingtons weren't in the White House, nor that Washington had no biological kids. How can one not know who president #1 was?

they moved in and it was jsut suppose to be temporaray, it'll be a year now in june! they havent saved any money(it is now clear to us they spend all their money at the casino) and only pay $200 a month for rent and watch the kids for free, but only part time. The MIL works full time and FIL gets disability and is home all day. They have quit buying groceries and I say "we gave them a year and now they can start paying part of the mortgage and utilites and we will pay them for daycare and take it off the rent. My husband agrees but wont talk to them about it. he feels bad. I want to know where all their money is and my husband says it's none of our buisness. I say my house my rules, when they start contributing their fair share what money they have left over is not our concern. shouLd I just start dealing with them or still leave it to my husband and how much longer can we let them stay.
Ps. they have an unlawful detainer on their renters record and filed banruptcy. HELP

I read in Scott's Lawncare book that when replacing my sparkplug for the season i should shoot in 15ml (0.5oz) of Motor Oil into the spark plug hole. My lawnmower is a gas driven. I used a suringe needle to do the job and it squirted in pretty fast. I then slowly pulled the cord of the engine to move the oil around to lube the engine. When i then offically started the mower (sparkplug reattached) i found that my mower began to smoke up (white smoke) and heard lots of popping sounds from muffler. I then turned it off and noticed splatters of oil just under the muffler area of mower. I then reasoned that my action of shooting oil may have done this.

OR IS IT POSSIBLE, that my tipping the lawnmower up (sparkplug up in the air) may have caused the existing oil in the system to somehow cause problems. OR even another possiblity, i just changed my Air filter on the mower and maybe it is not in correctly...

OR maybe when i changed the sparkplug it is Miss Firing?

I have a 1992 Honda 250 xr dirtbike. I have recently crashed it and there was some damage done to the exhaust that i had to weld. the compression feels very low when i try and kick start it and it is very hard to get it started unless i push start it. there is no more cracks in the exhaust pipe, but it is noticeably louder and has much less power than it did before i crashed. what can i do for better performance?

It was a close race. Al Gore lost. We need one universal way of voting in this country. I wish we could have elections on the weekend! (Too bad only 40% of us vote, anyway.) It may improve our voter participitation. (without any career-politicians and PORK POLITICIANS mucking things up for us!!)
