How to make friends in London?

I moved to the city a few months ago, without really knowing anyone here. I'm 27, and enjoy practically anything - except getting drunk, so alchohol socializing down at the local doesn't work for me that much.
Are there any good social clubs for people who want to meet new friend?
Any hobby-based clubs you know of?
I'm not looking for sex or romance, just people to talk with, go out with, hang out, have fun. Comedy, food, theatre, films, jogging, arts and crafts, all good.

How do you feel about the referees in the NBA, now that they give Techs faster?

Four players have been ejected already. The refs are giving out technical fouls even faster as a part of their "Zero Tolerance" policy or whatever it is. What is your take on this subject?

What is he playing at?

There's this guy I think is great. I've known him a year, he works in the pub and we went to college together- I don't remember seeing him there but he remembers me.
We see each other a couple of times a week, go to the movies, for drinks, just mess around together really.
In the summer, he met this american girl, and he dated her for the month she was on holiday here. I was happy for him-he's my friend, even though I like him a lot and he knows that. It was his birthday just before she went back to america and she got him a $900 plane ticket to go visit her December - March. They weren't that serious, he was a bit scared when she gave it to me because him and I talked about it.
The other night we went out for a drink, and he told me I was beautiful, completely out of the blue. In the taxi home he kissed me goodnight, he usually just hugs me. I've not seen him since because I've been busy whenever he has called. Shall I tell him how much I care about him before he goes in December?
