This Atlantic hurricane season has seen 23 named storms, more than at any point since record-keeping began in 1851.

Early this month, Hurricane Stan hit southern Mexico at Category 1 strength on October 4, caused flooding and mudslides that killed 71 people in the southern state of Chiapas and left 654 dead -- and 828 missing -- in neighboring Guatemala. Another 71 died in El Salvador.

Hurricane Wilma, which reached category 5 strength and was still a category 4 storm when it made landfall, killed four people in Mexico, 12 in Haiti, one in Jamaica and was blamed for 14 deaths in Florida.

he storm made landfall Sunday about 7 a.m. ET as a category 2 hurricane with 105 mph (169 kph) winds, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida.

It came ashore near La Barra, Nicaragua, and is expected to sweep across the Central American nation, dumping up to 15 inches (40 centimeters) of rain.

Beta was a small hurricane, with hurricane force winds extending outward up to 15 miles (25 kilometers), the center said.

從小我的夢想是當個科學家,　這股動力是來自於我國小的自然老師.
因為他上課活潑生動,使得我愛上了自然,也讓我的心裡多一個夢想.
於是我便像著魔一樣,不斷的閱讀有關自然的書. .
以致讓我有這麼豐富的智慧,當然,也不能忘了那些幕後功臣,我的自然老師Mr.Lin
幫我解決我的疑問，還有學校的顯微鏡﹔讓我見到那數多的細胞，當然也
不能忘了指導我多年的自然課本，因為他我才有今天這個夢想。
在我當上科學家以後，我要運用先人的智慧，探索人類所好奇的太空，
並想辦法創造第二地球，使得人類的全球人口不會太多。
再來，因為現在空氣污染物太多，所以我想要發行全世界造林活動，
讓地球更健康有活力。
我也要和那些志同道合的朋友，一同研究為何紅血球中間下凹。
為何萬物皆有引力─────牛頓曾說：「我並不是巨人，我只是踏在巨人的肩膀上」
以後，我不只是要踏在巨人的肩膀上，我也要成為後世子孫的巨人。
