I was born in the states in 1975, my Me was 7 months pregnant with me when my Ba and two sister ran for the "boat". My Ba was in the South Vietnamese Navy so staying was not an option. Having said that, I grew up in two cultures. I have experiences the good and the bad, the racism from the ignorant people to disappointments from Vietnamese elders. Growing up as a child and not understanding why kids were making fun of me. From being the black sheep and not your ordinary Vietnamese girl (smoking, drinking, partying) to a successful adult. However, I look back on the strict Vietnamese family I grew up in and during that time, hated every moment but now cherish that my parents made me learn to read, write and speak Vietnamese which now when I have a family will pass that on to them.

Your experiences...

I'm planning a family trip to Vietnam last week of October this year. Does anybody know what the weather is at this time in diffrenet parts of country? My intial plan is to arrive to Hanoi, look arround for 1-2 days. Go to central Vietnam and take a rest on the beach resort for 3+ full days (if climate is ok - any tips? HoiAn is good?), then end at HCMC for 1-2 days.

The bigest concern is climate. Any suggestion where is best to spend our few days on the beach? Is it North, Centarl or South Vietnam?

I'm 37 with wife and 9 years doughter.

Thanks a lot

My vietnamese girlfriend lives in Vietnam and I come to visit her, but I heard it is often impossible to have her staying overnight in the same hotel room than me unless we rent two rooms. Aren´t there any decent hotels in Ho Chi Minh City without such restrictions ?

I mean, its been over three decades; countless Vietnamese Americans are still bitter over the loss to North Vietnam. I suggest the two sides communicate and find a way to take Vietnam to prominence. After all, Vietnam is a country of high intelligence and rich in culture.

Two wrongs and bitterness doesn't make a right.
