I'm planning a family trip to Vietnam last week of October this year. Does anybody know what the weather is at this time in diffrenet parts of country? My intial plan is to arrive to Hanoi, look arround for 1-2 days. Go to central Vietnam and take a rest on the beach resort for 3+ full days (if climate is ok - any tips? HoiAn is good?), then end at HCMC for 1-2 days.

The bigest concern is climate. Any suggestion where is best to spend our few days on the beach? Is it North, Centarl or South Vietnam?

I'm 37 with wife and 9 years doughter.

Thanks a lot

In Oct the weather will be pretty good [hot] ideal for the beach,i think for a family beach holiday Nha Trang is way ahead of anywhere in Vietnam. As you have such a short time make sure you book your internal flights, you certainly wont have time for any other form of travel. If you need ant other info please post details.

October through March is when the weather across much of Vietnam is pleasant. The exception being the central area, which has usual drizzle and is prone to getting hit by typhoons during the winter months.

Actually, anytime is a good time to visit Vietnam if you don't mind a little (or a lot) of rain. Rain brings out the surreal life of Vietnam that is very interesting to observe by foreigners.

Have fun!

Why is your vacation so short?
If you are Hanoi, take an excursion to Ha Long bay if you have the time. Or go up to Sapa, to see the tribal culture of the north.
If you are looking for beaches, go to Nha Trang and go on the snorkeling day trips to the many islands. Very cheap, very good.
When in HCMC, dont forget to shop at 'cho binh thanh' or Saigon market in english. Any other Q's email me. I live in Vietnam...but I am Canadian.
