Hola,

I heard that the mix is very Afro-Latin in places like Barranquilla and Cartagena. But what about Bogota?

Gracias, amigas y amigos.

I'm going on a cruise that stops in Guatemala. We are going on a shore excursion to see the Myan ruins. Should I be concerned about the safety? This is a high quality cruise line and offers the shore excursions with an additional charge. Should I be concerned?

My boyfriend and I are looking for a relaxing time by the water, with good food, safety/security and opportunity to experience local culture. That is...we're not trying to hide out in a resort filled with expatriates, but would like to immerse ourselves a bit in local life / activitities. Would appreciate answers from those who know both countries. Thanks.

We were scheduled to stay in a great Hotel on the beach in Guanacaste Costa Rica. Last minute change we stayed in a hotel across the street from the beach. Hotel on the beach cost $138-175, our new hotel cost $75-85. Ants, fans that did not work, shower drains that did not work are only some of the problems. This was to be the highlight of the trip, 3 nights on the beach in a beautiful hotel, instead, a disaster, a hotel that really should not have been accepted by GCT. They offered my wife and I $400 toward our next trip. I told them to keep it. We have traveled with GCT 9 times, this has been the 3rd time they changed hotels at the last minute, all for the worst. This bait and switch operation has got to stop.

Thinking of immigrating, BUT phobic of venomous animals. Are you in Uruguay? Are there a whole lot of poisonous snakes, spiders, scorpions, centipedes, etc. that live in and around civilization? Would someone in a city have to worry about them really? Are people very often bitten/stung by seriously venomous animals in Uruguay? Thanks.
