Recently I visited PR and I was blown away by their anti-American feelings. (Portoricans call Americans "gringos" in a despective away) Of Americans they only want their food stamps and welfare. There is no wonder your "turismo" is dead. Good luck my friends.....

I'm Greek and my girlfriend is a very proud Puerto Rican. She told me about this a few days ago... We Greeks are going through the same exact thing with Albanian people! They come into the country, learn a few Greek words and they fake that they are Greeks just to get jobs! But why do Dominicans lie? Could it be that they cant get jobs too? Enlighten me.... Un Griego que ama a mujer latina ;-)

There is a recipe my grandmother use to make when I was a little girl but alas the recipe has been lost since she passed away. It was like pasteles made of yucca and wrapped in banana leaf and then foil and baked in the oven. Abosolutely delicious! I am not sure if it is called empanada or empanadilla de yucca. I think it is empanadilla de yucca. Does anyone know what I am talking about and if so would you have a recipe? I am dying to know how to make it! This would be a heartfelt recipe for me.

My family would like to purchase a condo or townhouse in Isla Verde or Loiza to use as a vacation home when we go to Puerto Rico. We have family there but they are not in the metro area. Please let me know of any recommendations as I would like to rent to other tourists when we are not using it. Also, are there property taxes like in the US? Besides the mortgage payment what other monthly payments can we expect? How is the insurance?

I am thinking about moving to Puerto Rico for a few months next year, what are some good websites for apartments and jobs there? Also, does Puerto Rico have a public transportation system? Any other information would be great!

I am considering to live in Puerto Rico. In January I am going to stay on the island for my vacation. While there I wil do some scouting and check out the place. How easy or how hard it is to find work there, whether upscale or downscale?
