I haven't really played tennis before. In 5th grade i took lessons and after that the only thing i have done was hit the ball around with my brother or up against the garage. I have always wanted to play tennis for my high school but 9th grade i have no idea why but i didnt try out. In 10th grade the only people told about tryouts were the people on the team from the previous year. Then in 11th grade i moved to a new state and i couldnt tryout because i wasnt even registered until after tryouts. Now i am a senior and I feel so stupid that i didn't tryout in 9th grade. The tryouts are on the 10th. I have no idea what i even need for tryouts. I tried to find out on the school website but they just had tryout dates. All i know is that our team wasnt so good last year and that there wasnt a lot of girls on the team but then again ihave no idea how many people are usually on the team. I dont know whether i should tryout or if i should just forget about it. What can i do? should i tryout?

If you have a hybrid stringing job on your racket, and one string breaks, do you just have to replace that one string or do you have to replace both?

I find it hard to serve because I just started and I keep throwing the ball backwards and I keep swinging when I know I'm not suppose to. Any suggestions on how I might improve?

It doesn't necessarily have to be a Yonex. The racquet should be similar in weight and face size.

i've always used a stand-up ektelon stringer at pro-shops or elsewhere becuase i used to string rackets back in high school and college. anyway, now i'm just looking for one for myself because i still break strings fairly often but no longer have access to pro-shop machines. anyway, my main question is, does a "drop weight" stringer provide the same tension accuracy? in other words, what do you give up with the drop weight besides convenience and time? and if i've never used one but know how to string on an ektelon, will i have any problems? thanks.

Okay so i need this raquet, like, NOW! Where can I buy it? Since it is last year's model no where sells it. I live in the milwaukee area. Do you know of any stores or websites around here where I can go buy it, like FIRST THING TOMORROW?!

When is it legal during/after a serve to step over the line? (Does the ball have to hit the ground, or what?)

Obviously besides tennis, squash, and racquet ball pros. Somebody below asked about the tennis skills of NFL players and it got me to thinking about the overall question of which sports people are also good or great at tennis.

My vote would be ice hockey players. I know Rob Brindamour is a terrific tennis player. Also baseball infielders. I've heard that Mike Schmidt is a great tennis player, although he prefers golf now.

Of course NFL players are great athletes, but I wonder if their size slows them down on a tennis court?
