question will make me sound like a kook but I never needed a wetsuit before since I only surfed during the summer. I decided to surf into Nov. this year so I now need one. I was going to shop for one but a week or 2 ago when I got home I complained about how cold the water was. My mom hearing me decided to order me one as a surprise. It's a high end suit but it fits tightly everywhere except for in the armpits. I drew a picture to illustrate how it fits. Is that normal for the armpit area?(example B) or should it fit like example A when I have my arms straight out. It's MT I'm 6'0" 165lbs. I read someone saying the same size/model suit is kinda tight on him, only difference is he's 170 (both of us are in the size range)Like should the armpit be as tight as the elbow joint is if you bent your arm? I guess you can call this space the cup area? Like if you put your arm straight out to the side and put your flat hand in your armpit only the edges of your hand touch just slightly larger

Well, I am sure that you'll have heard the news! A major hurricane is heading for the Galveston Coast, not very far from my home and whenever something like this happens in my neck of the woods, we all grab our boards and head to the beach. Many people call us fools or being crazy, but hey, its a lot of fun catching the big waves coming into shore and besides that, it helps to keep me feeling young and very much alive.(hope my doctor doesn't hear about what I am going to do, he has advised me to relax and enjoy myself, if he only knew)

Are there any surfers on this Yahoo line? Are you ready for some asskicking surfing?

Besides, my Life Insurance policy is up to date!

Thank you,

I really would like to buy my own surfboard, so i went to have a look at them, but there are lots of different lengths and types! Can anyone explain the difference between them all, and which would be the best type for me.......and the best brand?

He doesn't actually go that often, but he's obsessed. I don't surf and would have problems due to a knee injury, so I can't really join in. I'm worried that the only holiday that we'll ever have that doesn't involve surfing will be our honeymoon if we get married!

I love the sea, but it's no fun swimming where there are surfers and I wouldn't feel safe around surfers with my little girl. I'm also not a big fan of sitting around on the beach all day, but what else am I supposed to do while he's surfing?

I have never surfed and I will probably never surf until the next 5 years cuz I don't live in a place near the ocean and I don't have any stuff needed. I love watching it though... could u tell me if I what's the maximal age u can learn it? Is for example 20 years old OK to learn to surf? Or is it too difficult?...

I am looking for a new board and have,up until now, been surfing simply on anything i could find/hire/borrow. Although i have some idea from experience, i am still not too confident about the size of board i should be getting.

Here are my specs (so to speak):
- intermediate at surfing,
- around 88kgs or 195 Pounds or 14 stone
- around 6ft/183cm

I would like to know the type of board (im thinking short board), and range of heights/widths/thicknesses that would be ideal for a surfer of my size and stature.

Thanks a load!

Currently, I live in Hartford County, Connecticut in the United States, but next year I'm going to school in South Australia. I'd love to work at a surf shop sometime while I'm there, but I obviously can't gain any experience at a surf shop here. I cannot commute a hour a day to the Connecticut coastline to work at any water sport shops or beaches. I want to have some experience in the field, because I know that many college students apply to the surf shops in Adelaide's Central Business District. How do I better qualify myself for the job?

what is it about surfing that you would risk your life each time you go out into the ocean where you could be shark's next meal? that's probably the worst way to die, to be eaten alive. especially by those razor sharp knives as teeth. i could never understand why people would take a great risk to lose their life for such a hobby.

I bought from him years ago, and now I can't remember the name, address, phone, anything. I seem to remember it being in southern O.C. As I remember, he sold mostly just fins; I don't think he even sold boards.

Thanks,
Ben

My sister is almost deathly afraid of the ocean, mostly the waves and the threat of riptides. She is 13 years old, and would like to overcome this problem. She says she i mostly afraid because one she was sucked under a large wave for 15 seconds, and hasn't been able to go in the ater since then. Any help with this fact? She keeps telling me sooooo many people die in the ocean each year, and I'm trying to tell her that if she treats the ocean with respect, and is cautious, she will be perfectly fine. Any ideas?

Hello
I'm looking to buy a new surfboard next month
and am a little confused.
I'm 5'6" and about 140 pounds.
Currently, I ride a 6'2" shortboard that my cousin handed down to me.
It's pretty dinging up, so I need help looking for a new one.
I'm more into shortboarding, so if anyone could point out the right dimensions or something of a board that would be good for me, I'd really appreciate that.
Thanks in advanced!
