If you are near Alamona Beach, try Alysha Surf School. Albert Mahoe is the owner and does a great job of instruction. His email is mahoe23@yahoo.com.

If you are near Waikiki Beach, there are three surf schools all next to each other right on the beach. You need to be a little careful with the coral heads in the water where they teach but there are many instructors right there to assist you.

Obviously you're traveling there... Surf shops and instructors are all over the place in Hawaii.

Google one located where you intend to travel to. Where you surf will depend on where you want to go and what instructor you choose.

Depending on which Island you are going to... there are dozens of instructors on dozens of beaches. If you are on the big island you can have the ultimate teacher. An ex world champion named Rory Russel teaches there and he has never faild to get someone standing on their first day. Check it out. He works out of Kona.

barbers is a pretty good beach for some waves that are not to big but not tiny. barbers is also known as white plains. some places on north shore are probably to big for beginners and also downtown like ala moana would be to big.
