When it comes to playing for country what are the best rivalries. My top five would be
1) Brazil v. Argentina
2) Ghana v. Nigeria
3) USA v. Mexico
4) Ireland v. England
5) Turkey v. Greece

It was tougher than I thought. It is harder mainly because they do not play as often so it is hard really take an objective look at it as you could do with club rivalries. i am probably leaving out a whole lot of rivalries that are probably just as worthy so add some suggestions.

In the group phase of the UEFA Champions League, only the top two football clubs in each group progresses to the next round; the other two teams in each group are eliminated from the competition.
Currently, the teams that finish in third position in the group phase of the UEFA Champions League gain entry to the UEFA Cup. I find this wholly unfair on the teams who are already in the UEFA Cup. In my view, if a team is not strong enough to progress in the UEFA Champions League, that is its own weakness and hard luck. Those who have already fought hard to come through the group stage of the UEFA Cup should not have to be confronted by teams that have been dumped out of an entirely different tournament.
