Yep totally agree mate.
It's stupid that they get a second chance to win something. In my eyes, if ya get knocked out then that's it - Europe is over for that season.

In the Uefa Champions league, only the elite teams from each league is selected, for e.g. the top four teams in the whole league. The winner of the Champions league is then able to compete in the fifa world club championship, where the winner of the other continents champions leagues compete and the winner is crowned the best club in the world. The Uefa cup is for teams that finish just under the top 3 or 4. In this case, around 5-8. The teams that are entered in the Champions league qualifiers, but do not qualify get to compete in the Uefa cup. Both of these competitions are for the clubs in Europe. Other continents have there own champions leagues. The super cup is a competition between the Uefa cup winners, and the Champions league winners

Totally agree ... Infact I've always asked how it can be called the CHAMPIONS League in the first place when it isn't just Champions of each League that enter but also the runners up and also rans that finished 3rd and 4th !!
Money i know is the answer but it really should be done under the trades description act as the competition DOESN'T include just CHAMPIONS ... and should therefore be called something else like, 'Champions and also rans League'
And then you get a team that isn't good enough for that competition and can then be allowed into the Uefa Cup as another chance of glory.......What next keep putting a team into a competition until it wins it ?!

No, it's fair that way, it's a lot easier to pass the group stage of UEFA Cup than CL, most of the times the clubs from CL that go to UEFA Cup are not the clubs that are on top of the best leagues(La Liga, EPL, Seria A, Bundesliga), for example this year only strong team from CL was Werder but that only because they were in group with Barca and Chelsea!!!! UEFA Cup is made for lower leagues and smaller clubs, if some club lose against Real Madrid or some other strong club in CL and are eliminated from CL, that doesn't mean that the clubs that are still in UEFA Cup are better than they are, because their opponents were a lot weaker!!!!

I disagree... there is not a huge difference between finnishing 3rd 4th or 5th in the league... Take sevilla for instance last year they (as you put it) arent good enough to qualify for Champions league.. Now they are sitting joint top... So you cant really say that. And look at Beyer Leverkusen a couple of years ago they were in the Champions league final!! now they only qualify for Uefa.... Swings in roundabouts my friend..... And as far as it being unfair on Uefa Cup teams?? naaaaaa you will see this when Spurs beat Werder Bremen in the Final......

I've also thought about that once but one thing for sure is that watching the likes of Milan, Chelsea, Madrid etc... involved in this competition would be a shame and also it would make the champions league less competitive because no great team thinks of being eliminated in the group stage therefore this makes it more and more difficult. Despite Barcelona being dumped out of the competition but they are at least relieved to have reached the knock out phase.
Thanx!

it is a bit of a let down for the uefa cup teams to suddenly see a big gun in thier competion after playing several games but i think it is better for the tournement as a whole if there is quality in it.
if you have prgressed well then there is every chance you will beat these teams and would make the win a lot more satisfying, also if you won the tourament and knocked out these teams on the way you also have bragging rights.
it is a bit of a daft rule but uefa are renownd for these, unfortunately uefa will say "our comp our rules"

I agree but i think they do that to make it more exciting. I wanted Newcastle to win but they lost to AZ which was not in the CL so i think its pretty reasonable and only some of the CL rejects get to win it
