I am so sick and tired of seeing stuff that says proven facts are wrong. Yes, people, I'm talking about Halloween.

Here is the TRUE history of Halloween.

The festival of Halloween as we celebrate it today is an interesting juxtaposition of a Christian and a pagan festival.

Searching for the history & origin of this festival takes us back to the 5th. century B.C. in Celtic Ireland. In those days, the year ended with the end of summer which officially used to end on 31st.October. This day was called Samhain.

The Celts had a strong belief in the afterlife and they believed that the spirits of those who died in the preceding year came back on this day to possess the living bodies for the next year. This was the only hope of the spirits for afterlife. But obviously those who were living did not want to be possessed.

Two girls and one guy. Looking for a good pop culture reference that most people would get, or just something really clever.

Thanks!

We want a costume that is so wrong, so taboo that it will offend half the people that see it, while making the other half laugh hysterically. For example, I know of someone in a wheelchair that dressed up as Superman with a tube in his mouth (it was for alcohol). Also, I had a friend that dressed up with his buddy as the Baylor basketball players in the murder scandal. Please help, we want the best costume ever. Something like Mark Foley and his page...something like that.

Does any one know some last minute costumes that can be put together quickly for two teenage girl friends? They are going to a halloween party tonight and they need something to dress up as together. Any ideas?

I heard that it is a manner that kids can only knock on other people's doors on Haloween if the doors or the yard have some Haloween decorations.

Is that true?

If someone does not want kids to come to the house, then, what does he needs to do?

Do people normally know about this manner?

Thanks.

Last year we went to Bemidji, Minnesota trick or treating. It was HORRIBLE. It's gotta be one of the worst places in the country to go.

Throw out the weather. Bemidji is cold and you do have to wear mits, hats and a winter jacket over your costume. I don't mind that so much.

BUT, most of the houses there aren't decorated. Most of the houses are NOT handing out candy and in fact, the people are hiding in their rooms with their lights off. We actually walked 3 blocks in one area and ONLY ONE house was giving out candy!

You could walk 10 miles in Bemidji and not even get half a bag of candy. It's ridiculous.

One house had a family come to the door when kids came up and tell them they didn't celebrate Halloween. Come on! They go to the house 100 times that night? They can't do something else? Set a bowl of candy by the door!

1 guy was so drunk in his house he just flipped people off.

Another house used Halloween to spread their religious propaganda! GEEZ!

I'm know as being the person that always turns up to my friends halloween partys in the best costume.

In the invites this year he has stated there is a prize for anyone who can beat my costume as I always excel myself.

I'm really stuck this year for a good costume. Last year I went as "Papa Lazerou" from the League of Gentlemen (UK BBC TV show) complete with Minstral style face paints - top hat, wig, walking cain and knee length jacket with pegs inside - it went down really well and everyone said I had by far the best costume.

I don't want to go as a ghost or a vampire or a mummy or zombie - I want a costume that won't cost too much that people will say "wow thats a top costume"

I'm a bit strapped for cash this year - I have the black and white face paints from last year and still have the wig and top hat.

Any ideas peeps? - sensible answers only pweese...

I lost a bet with my gf and her roommate and have to let them dress me as a Playboy Bunny for Halloween. They have already purchased the costume and as demanding a few things from me as part of the costume. I think they want too much so we agreed to let the answers forum answer these questions and go with the results.

1. Should I have to shave my legs?
2. Should I have to shave my chest?
3. Should I have to let them do my hair?
4. Should I have to wear heels?
5. Should I have to wear perfume?
6. Should I have to stuff the chest?

I am agreeing to the outfit, but to me the other stuff is extra. She says that's just me trying to welch. Please be kind.
