The one movie that still to this day scares me to death is the very first Poltergeist. I've seen it a hundred times and I still can't watch it without covering my eyes. I haven't seen An American Haunting yet, but my friends say it is really scary. Oh... and The Skeleton Key too.

I have yet to see a TRULY scary movie, but An American Haunting did get me to jump at one point, Gothika had a pretty good moment too ... but they aren't really scary. Japanese horror tends to be alot better than American horror, try The Juon (The Grudge) or the japanese version of Dark Water.

The only movie that has really scared me is Wes Craven's New Nightmare. When I watched it, it didn't get me, but a couple of days later it scared me senseless. I swore Freddy was sitting on my bed. I refused to sleep in my room for days and I was 20.

same here, i really dont get scared in movies and i find most of them really boring. i dont think there are good horror movies out there. maybe just stick with the disturbing and sadistic ones like saw. i thought the movie when darkness falls was scary, but then the ending was really stupid so it just ruined everything. good luck finding one. i say go with the classics

I liked the grudge, and the hills have eyes, also texas chainsaw massacre, and saw was good, not a big fan of "part II" movies though, they seem to lose the original magic!
