I have older clothing here (fairly new, but came out in '97-99) and perhaps some small furniture, like a TV and a shelf.. if I decide to donate these items, how does it help me? Do I receive anything for them?

We have a small community organization and have a piece of artwork donated to sell at one of our picnics. What raises more money - a raffle or a silent auction? The artwork is worth about $200 and only 50 persons come to the picnic. Does someone have experience to know which is better - auction or raffle?

I have an abundance of extra lotions, shampoos, hair products, unused cute little soaps, etc.... stuff I'm never going to use, but it seems like a shame to throw it away when someone else might enjoy it but not be able to afford it. Anyone know of an organization that accepts this kind of donation?
Thanks!

I'm very interested in volunteering with an organization involved with creating awareness and fund raising for cleft palate and lip causes. Some US based organizations such a Smiletrain and Operationsmile seem to only take only medical volunteers such as qualified surgeons. CLAPA (http://www.clapa.com/clapa.html) seems like a great place but they only operate in the UK and Northern Ireland. Can you think of other US organizations for volunteering?

Recently a friend of our family lost a son in Iraq. He was a marine and only 19 years old. We know they have been overwhelmed with food, visits and offers of help. We would like to donate to a military charity in his honor but we don't know of a good reputable one. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
