If you're good at making things by hand, you could try making some creative jewelry and selling it on ebay. You could also offer to be someone's pet sitter or if you're really good at a subject in school you could try to be a tutor and help others out.

Babysit?

Or, how about you work out a network of 20-30 people you can visit on foot once a week. The purpose of your visit would be to do any chore or errand(s) they needed done. Charge $5/hr, with a 1/2 hr minimum charge (even if it's a 5-minute job). (Well, you can work out your own rate, but I think $5 would be a minimum hourly rate.)

These might just be older people or anyone who could use a little help moving/carrying things, running to the store, or who might even enjoy an excuse for some company while they get a little chore done.

You could end up with some steady customers who'd want you to come by at the same time/day every week.

You could have an on-call service too, where they can just call you to come over if something comes up. But otherwise, don't wait for them to call - as long as they don't mind you coming by every week, just keep checking in to see what's needed.

Make up some business cards, fridge magnets, or something like that so they can have your name and number readily at hand. These don't have to be fancy, just having them available to pass out is good.

Go to a church. .. the one we go to has a bulliten board with people looking for help. . .maybe there is some elderly or sick people that need someone to do their grocery shopping, etc. Oh, wait, you're 14. . .can't drive. . .hmmmm. . .offer to clean people's houses! Man, I can't tell you how I'd LOVE to have a cleaning lady, but they are expensive. Offer a one time cleaning for $50, and REALLY do a good job. Dust, wipe down cabinets, vacuum, do the ENTIRE bathroom, mirrors, glass, floors, take out the trash. . .I had a cleaning lady for a small time and I LOVED it! My kids were very young, it was a HUGE help. I'd bet on that one, sweetie. And $50 for a one time entire house overhaul is not asking too much. I paid $70 every two weeks. .. ($140 per month). . .It might take you 3 hours, depending on the size of the house, but that's still good money. Work your butt off and they'll tell their friends and you'll have more work. (And hey, get a good workout, too. Maybe I should take my own advice. . .)

I recommend offering to clean out people's garage. Arm yourself with trashbags, cleansers, papertowels, broom, and a smile. Ask the homeowner to tour the garage with you and point out boxes to be moved or organized, things to be tossed or recycled, items areas to ignore, etc. Organizing tools, gathering trash (you may want to bag the trash, but allow the homeowner to double-check anything you throw away), sweeping the floor, washing windows, shelves, and countertops is a good way to earn money. Plus,at the end of the afternoon, you're done! :)

Are you able to help outside with yard work? Some of us (in the north) didn't get around to raking up the rest of our leaves. Perhaps you can help with that.

Also- ask about general work- perhaps you can help clear out a garage, sort out an attic, etc.

I would suggest washing cars, but it may be too cold for that.

If you have elderly in your area, you may be able to offer your services for errands- going to the corner store for bread or milk.

Are you good with computers? You may be able to use these skills in your business- making business cards, invitations, etc.

Good luck.
