Is it me or does it seem that almost every A-List (read "white") Celebrity has a sudden, almost zealous, interest in helping Blacks in Africa but there's still NO interest in helping their countrymen - Black or White. Could be just me, right?

Most of mine are rhetorical questions, and I just wonder about things a lot. Why do people assume that it's me who I am talking about?

If social progams, which focus on literacy and education, were implemented in poverty-stricken communities around the world, do you think this will help to combat the ills of the world? Issues like poverty, corruption, exploitation, discrimination, human rights violations, etc

Seems like there are only women, gays, and "metro-sexuals". What happened? It is starting to spread to the east coast too.

I am interested in restaurant stories and opinions. Most people are inclined to believe that a server would do something to compromise a customer's food. After serving for eight years I'm more inclined to believe a server would not harm a customer's food. Please give me your opinion and whether or not you would allow something like this. Feel free to name the restaurant or state. I hope to receive a response from all 50 states. And know your answers may be used in a book I am currently researching.

I was discussing this with a friend, and the legal side of this has me concerned: would it be ok to give non-perishable food items, like crackers, canned fruit drinks, etc, to a homeless person that's begging on the corner, instead of money?

Part of me thinks this would be fine, but on the other side, what if the person had a reaction to the food and got sick? (say you gave a packet of peanut butter crackers and the person had an allergic reaction?)

Is giving actual food to a homeless person a bad practice, and would it be better to just give some money for food? (I know the old argument that the money would just go to booze and smokes, but I don't think this is always the case.)

Thoughts?
