The babies stay in the nest, and they grow fast so they look like adults.
Adolescents are paler.

Yes, i have seen baby pigeons a couple of times, not this year but last year during spring and summer, they've made a nest at our front balcony, two baby pigeons. They were cute. They've stayed in nest until they've learned how to fly. We couldn't get to front balcony last summer until they fly, and they were very stubborn, they seemed like they didn't want to fly. As much as their mother have pushed, they've resisted more.
I am not living in new york city, but i have seen a rat too. I was little, it was winter, i have gone to neighbour with my mother, and suddenly a rat rushed across the fireplace. Mother of the house hit the rat with a wood at one shot, and she took and throwed it. It was kinda amazing, i haven't seen such thing before, still remembering although i was little.
I've seen a stork flying last week, after about 30 minutes, rain clouds (nimbus clouds) covered the sky, and we had downpour. Flying stork was kinda sign of the rain.
Here where i live there is an old saying "seeing stork flying you're going to travel a lot that year", like be traveling constantly (said jocularly), to be always on the move.
