That was in interesting story about surprising ancestral connections (Thormoud, Sharpton, etc.). I can't help but wonder how many white people in the south (US) actually have some black ancestry. If you think about it, blacks lived there for hundreds of years as slaves, and there was some mating going on, which was usually similar to rape, but the end result is still genetic mixing. Not only that, but consider the Native Americans and the Mexicans (who were part Native American to begin with). There was definitely some mixing there too. Bush is from Texas, and he's probably part Aztec or Mayan or something.

They are both vemonous spiders that can live together in the same web for the mating season. Then one of them will kill then eat each other. Unless the male (brown recluse) runs away quickly before the female (black widow) gets him for dinner.

There have been many stories from history that have ended in a 'perfect type' of way. For example take 'The Little Sea Maid' (also known as 'The Little Mermaid') from Hans Christian Anderson. At the end of the story when she is unable to kill her love she throws herself from the ship ready to die but instead is 'saved' from death by children of the air. OR 'Le Belle te le Bete' (I believe it is, my French is very rusty. Also known as 'Beauty and the Beast') from Jeanne-Marie Leprince De Beaumont where the primary female character eventually finds a way to love the beast.

But the real world is not like this, and if presented with a real world example we are in the most part unable to accept it, it is to perfect in a way.

So my question is, if we like these fairy tales and hold them as an example for what can be why do we not strive to achieve it? AND Why do we resist it, and try to change it to what we are comfortable with?

My interest is social/cultural anthropolgy and I want to become a teacher of anthropolgy so more schooling will be necessary. Also, I read at one grad school that proficiency in foreign language would be helpful and actually required.
Any thoughts?

Okay. mah grandaddy looks a hell of a lot like an orang-utan but that don't prove Jack sh it. I believe the good Lord created primates in my grandaddy's image and remember, He created my grandaddy, if you follow me. That, my friends, is a compliment to my family from on high. Very high.

It would seem that those who do not benefit from Westernization would be most opposed to it, and would be most likely to attack Westerners. What can developed "Western" societies do to bring more benefits to more people during the process of (ethnocide?). * See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westernization

We in America are so damn soft...we don't have the stomache to see things thru when it gets inconveiniant. The a-rabs slap us in the face and we forget the towers after a few years. We know Iran is plotting our demise, yet we don't confront them. Remember what happened to Rome when they didn't have the stomache to fight for themselves. Wise up, whimpy America, Neville Chamberlain was WRONG!
