[Based on The Ancient Kingdoms of Mexico., by Nigel Davies, published by Penguin Books. Available in paperback and highly recommended. Also highly recommended is Michael D. Coe's paperback The Maya., published by Thames and Hudson. Coe makes the point that whether or not the Olmec is properly viewed as the "mother culture", the Maya and many other civilizations were clearly dependent on Olmec achievements.]

There isn't one. Some of the Major cultures were Mayan, Aztec and Olmec, but there is also a lot of Spanish influence in Mexico as well, although not indigenous. So Mexico is a Nation of many influences, just as The United States and Canada and Australia, Brazil and New Zealand are to name jut a few.

Teotihuacan, I think.
They were the ancestors what we commonly call the Olmec,Toltec, Mayan and Aztec people today.
The mother culture was also the culture of the man who saw the Virgen Guadalupe for the first time.

I'm going to suggest Aztecan. The most widely-spoken language of Mexico today is Nahuatl - NOT Spanish, or even German or English. Since this is so then the 'mother culture roots' would be Aztecan.
(surprised, about Nahuatl?)
*I have traveled in Mexico frequently & extensively.
