They are both vemonous spiders that can live together in the same web for the mating season. Then one of them will kill then eat each other. Unless the male (brown recluse) runs away quickly before the female (black widow) gets him for dinner.

I wasn't able to find specifics in a reasonable time on the mating rituals of either species. However, most species develop specific rituals so it is unlikely that mistaken identity will take place. Also, the brown recluse is mentioned as using chemical cues as well. This further reduces the odds of a mistake being made. And finally, should a mistake be made, the differences between the two species make it unlikely that any progeny is forthcoming.

As an aside, I should note that one site (gafford pest control) has mentioned (contrary to one posting here) that the brown recluse is non-aggressive. This is backed up the last link which mentions a family known to have lived w. over 2000 spiders and not suffered a single bite.

Just say for instance, this is possible. Would the offspring be a brown widow or a black recluse.

Only in comic books.
A recluse would kill a black widow spider.
The recluse is very aggressive and the black widow has a very mild disposition despite its reputation.

Not to be a stickler, but do you know what anthropology is?

Hint: It doesn't really have anything to do with spiders.
