My 7th grade daughter came home and announced that they do not move..Now I am fairly knowledgeable in astronomy so I know all about the earths rotation when viewing night sky objects but I never thought about the clouds being still..What do you all think is she right or wrong?

A head on collision between two cars of equal mass each going 80 m/s or a collision between the same two cars, one stationary and the other going at 160 m/s? My hunch is the collision between the car going 80 m/s and the stationary car. I am curious to know because the total kinetic energy of the system in the head on collision seems to be m*80^2 and the total kinetic energy in the other case seems to be m*160^2

I live in Sub-Sahara Africa. This phenomenon is frequent. The refrigerator temperature is standard (in °C) so the water is NOT frozen. The water is cool, not ice cold when taken from the fridge. The ambiant temperature is "normal" for this region of Africa (in °C not F). Thank you very much, Sarah

living plants and trees absorb carbon dioxide which contains a small amount of radioactive carbon-14 which has a half-life of 5600 years. when the plant dies, the proportion of radioactive C to non-radioactive C in the plant decreases as the C-14 decays. the activity of a living plant is 15 Bq for each gram of carbon. if the activity of a piece of wood containing 4g of carbon is 30Bq, how old is the wood?

please help.. i'm very confused

a disscussion started at work one day when a aircraft flew over and i happend to comment that i thougt thrust was keeping it up. The others argued that it was the wings.I dissagreed saying that the wing was only helping to reduce the amount of thrust needed and gave a example of throwing a stone saying it would stay in the air indefinitly if the thrust was great enough and a stone has not got wings . can someone please help us all become friends again and settle this

Do you think it's possible to see the laser light if pointed to outer space? Like for example, the guys up there in the shuttle, do you think they could see the light from the laser pointer if we pointed it straight up?

It has been argued that power plants should make use of off-peak hours (such as late at night) to generate mechanical energy and store it until it is needed during peak load times, such as the middle of the day. One suggestion has been to store the energy in large flywheels spinning on nearly frictionless ball-bearings. Consider a flywheel made of iron, with a density of p, in the shape of a uniform disk with a thickness of L.

A.)What would the diameter of such a disk need to be if it is to store an amount of kinetic energy of E when spinning at an angular velocity of w about an axis perpendicular to the disk at its center?

B.) What would be the centripetal acceleration of a point on its rim when spinning at this rate?
