There is a ray of light falling on a plane mirror. When the mirror is turned through 5º, the reflected ray is found to have moved by 10º.
Why does that happen?

1. currents circulate in a piece of metal that is pulled through a magnetic field what are they called? (is it the solonoid??)

2. A c.r.o (cathode ray osc.) is set to 5V/cm. if height of wave from peak to peak is 5cm. what is V peak and V r.m.s (root means squared)

3. what is a flux linkage?

4. an A.C power outlet is labelled 240V what is Vpeak and Vr.m.s

5. an oscilloscope has a grid of 10div x 10 div. if time base is set at 3ms/div, how many times does the beam scan the screen per minute? what is the frequency?

thnx!!!

TRUE OR FALSE

1. If a magnet and a wire are moving at 5m/s to the right then there will be an induced current.

2.If a conducting rod is moved perpendicular to the field lines of a magnet a current will be induced.

3.When the flux through a loop changes a current is induced.

4.The induced e.m.f (electromotive force) tends to oppose the flux causing it.

An object leaves earth, attains light speed, also being observed from earth. It then switches two lights 'on' one forward the other aft. Light will/should leave from these two points at the speed of light? Now the question.
1) Will light at the forward end leave at the speed of light relative to the craft and from earth appear to exceed the speed of light?
2) Light leaving at the aft end of the craft will leave at the speed of light relative to the craft but since the craft is already traveling at the speed of light in the opposite direction, will light appear on earth as stopped?
If we have to accept that everything is relative. Then light in question 1, will travel faster than the speed of light, relative to earth where the object emitting light left from. Light leaving the craft (aft) can never be seen since it will never reach earth owing to its source receeding at the speed of light.
How do we know the universe is expanding if it does so at light speed, another question?

I'm watching The Elegant Universe and frankly, when they started talking about the need for several extra dimensions in order to have String Theory work, they lost me. It sounds like they're creating their own proof, 'strings' as well as these extra dimensions, which....surprise,surprise.....can never be observed or have their existance disproven....

I dunno, I think it sounds like hoke-um to me...

Say you had a sphere with a totally reflective coating on the inside that was like a one-way mirror, light could pass one way, not the other. If you shine a light into it, wouldn't the light just keep bouncing around inside? There would be nothing there to absorb the light.

The man releases the object at a height of 1.2 m, it rises another .3m to a peak height of 1.5m, then hits the gate at a height of .3m from the ground. The horizontal distance between the point of release of the object and the gate is 7m. With what force does the 2.7kg object hit the gate? Thank you for any help calculating this. The only ballpark answer I could come up with (for being an extremely Physics-handicapped person) is 104.5 pound/ft. This is from an event that actually happened, with someone throwing an object and damaging our gate; said person does not believe a 2.7 kg object could do this being thrown from the given distance.

Like if you were walking in the same direction as the train would be traveling, so you end up moving faster than the train. is that harder than walking in the opposite direction of train travel.

Im sure most will answer that there is no difference, but that would mean if the train was at light speed it would only take a tiny amount of energy by the traveller to exceed the speed of light.

all hypothetical of course, and let assume the train can get to that speed in the first place.

A projectile is fired with an initial speed of 30 m/s at an angle of 60 degrees above the horizontal. The object hits the ground 7.5 s later.
-to what maximum height above the launch point does the projectile rise?
-what are the magnitude and direction of the projectile's velocity at the instant it hits the ground?
ur playing right field for the baseball team.ur team is up by one run in the bottom of the last inning of the game when a ground ball slips through the infield and comes straight toward you. As u pick up the ball 65m from home plate, you see a runner rounding third base and heading for home with tying run.u throw the ball at an angle of 30degre. above the horizonal with just the right speed so that the ball is caught by the catcher, standing on home plate, at the same height as u threw it. As u release the ball, the runner is 20m from home plate and running full speed at 8m/s.Will the ball arrive in time for your team's catcher to make the tag and win the game?-give times

anyhow so energy can be converted to matter and vice versa. So I guess the real question is wich came first the chicken or the egg? But thats not my question my question is what happens when C changes like say when energy gets pulled in by a black hole like the one they are attempting to make at the CERN project? IF C becomes a higher number when approching a black hole and we make even a small one on the earth wont alot of energy thats going twoards the black hole become more amplified in some way and possibly cause a big explosion possibly? I mean the EM fields around the partical accelerator they are gona use to make these black holes will be rather large... Sure am glad they are doing these test in europe and not america. Fools lol.

matter/energy - the physical universe is different phases of energy
space/time - one thing that our minds see as two separate things
conscience - one conscience divided amongst the physical universe

My boyfriend's video was posted on YouTube about 8 months ago and ever since, people have been commenting that his best friend can't throw the ball 100 yards because there is a hill involved.

They have me thinking now, and I still think they are wrong, because it's flying down the hill, not rolling. Also, I was wondering how far the ball really DID go.
This is the video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=nt4wgtuXe7k

I know this will take some (maybe) simple physics to figure out, but alas.... I never took physics. I'd still like to see the full explanation if you can find one! Thanks!
