Equations of Transformation.
x = εηcos Φ, y = εηsin Φ, z = 1/2(η^2 - ε^2).

How do I find the Scale factors h(subscript ε), h(subscript η), h(subscript Φ)?

You can use E's n's, or o's for the Greek symbols..

Base layer is rectangle nxm, and has arbitrary chosen pattern of brick colors.
The bricks in each next layer nxm are chosen so, that
the color of each brick satisfies the following conditons:

1) Each black brick has even number of black neighbours;
2) Each white brick has odd number of black neighbours.

Prove: there will always appear a layer at certain
height, which pattern is similar to the base layer,
but all colors reversed.

That is if base layer is for exmaple
bwbw
bbbb

then sooner or later layer colored as
wbwb
wwww
will appear.

For f(x) x^3 (x-1)^2 (x+6)^4, determine:

a. the x- and y- intercepts, if any

b. whether f(x) touches or crosses the x-axis at each intercept

My answer:

a. The intercepts are (0,0), (1,0), (-6,0). How do I find out which one crosses or touches. I need to be able to do this without using a graphical calculator.

Thanks.

Suppose you have the following probability mass function for the three random variables A, B, anc C:

P_(A,B,C) of (0,0,1) = 5/36
P_(A,B,C) of (0,0,2) = 1/36
P_(A,B,C) of (0,1,0) = 3/36
P_(A,B,C) of (0,1,4) = 3/36
P_(A,B,C) of (0,2,2) = 1/36
P_(A,B,C) of (0,2,3) = 5/36
P_(A,B,C) of (1,0,3) = 2/36
P_(A,B,C) of (1,0,4) = 4/36
P_(A,B,C) of (1,1,2) = 6/36
P_(A,B,C) of (1,2,0) = 4/36
P_(A,B,C) of (1,2,1) = 2/36

How would one find the expected value of B?

sin(x+y) + cos(x-y) =1. What is dy/dx?

sin(x)cos(y) + cos(x)sin(y) + cos(x)cos(y) + sin(x)sin(y) = 1

cos(x)cos(y) - sin(x)sin(y)(dy/dx) - sin(x)sin(y) + cos(x)cos(y)(dy/dx) - sin(x)cos(y) - cos(x)sin(y)(dy/dx) + cos(x)sin(y) + sin(x)cos(y)(dy/dx) = 0

(dy/dx)(cos(x)cos(y) + sin(x)cos(y) - sin(x)sin(y) - cos(x)sin(y)) = sin(x)sin(y) + sin(x)cos(y) - cos(x)cos(y) - cos(x)sin(y)

dy/dx = [sin(x)sin(y) + sin(x)cos(y) - cos(x)cos(y) - cos(x)sin(y)] / [cos(x)cos(y) + sin(x)cos(y) - sin(x)sin(y) - cos(x)sin(y)]

dy/dx = [sin(x-y) - cos(x+y)] / [sin(x-y) + cos (x+y)]
